Creative Patterns and Decals
Most cameras today are pretty dull looking. They are basically black bricks with a lens attached to the front. There are some exceptions to that rule like a lot of Fujifilm cameras with their retro styling. Nikon also features the Nikon Zf which is beautiful to look at. But Sony cameras (Apart from the Sony A7C series) or Canon cameras are usually quite bland. One way to solve this are camera cases or housings: If we take the Sony A7III for example, which is a quite popular - and not the most beautiful camera - you can get a case in bright red, matte black or pretty much any other color you fany. The advantage of these cases is the really big grade of protection they’re offering. Scratches and little dents won’t happen with these cases.
You could also go for more of a retro look with so called “half-cases”: They are basically a case, but mostly on the underside of the camera. They often come in leather variants because that’s the way cameras were carried in the past. And that makes for a better look than a plain camera. If you want to find the right case for your camera, just go to to amazon or another retailer of your choice and use search phrases like “[yourcamera] half case”
If cases or half cases are too clunky and intrusive for you, you can also get camera wraps: These are basically stickers ready made for your camera. They usually leave no residue if you remove them, so your camera is just a little bit safer and better looking after applying them. There are tons of looks available ranging from a wooden finish to a carbon look to just crazy popart designs.
If you really want to be unique, why not just use random stickers and decorate your camera that way? Now that’s a truly unique look you can get and even combine all of your passions on your camera and lenses!
Camera Straps and Slings
Swap out the standard camera strap for one that features a design or material that you love. This not only makes your camera stand out but can also be more comfortable. We’ve already made an entire article about the best way to carry your camera… So have a look over there! Or directly on amazon.
Lens Caps and Skins
If we’re talking about customization of your kit we must not forget lenses! Most of them are very… funcionally designed and frankly not much to look at. You can spice up their looks with skins or custom lens caps.
