The best Small Sony Fullframe setup in 2024 that can fit in your jacket

Good things come in small packages, or at least they can come in small packages! In photography quality usually means size. And quality usually also means a quite hefty pricetag!

But what if we told you that there is a fullframe setup that can do pretty much every type of photography? Let us introduce you to our favorite gear-combination in the beginning of 2024:

It all starts with the Sony A7C II: It’s the smallest full-frame body available (discounting a certain Sigma camera, which doesn’t feature a viewfinder and a noticably worse lens selection.

Sony A7C II

The Sony A7C II (or the Sony A7CR) is at the heart of our setup! It is basically a miniature Sony A7IV, meaning you get all the same goodness: A 33MP sensor, 10fps shooting, great battery life, great video specs, image stabilization, a tilty flippy screen, so basically everything you could want in an everyday camera. The viewfinder is also notably improved compared to the original Sony A7.

The best thing about this camera? It can fit in a jacket-pocket! This of course only works with smaller lenses, but we’ll get to those now.

The Everyday Lens: Samyang 35mm F2.8

The Samyang 35mm F2.8 is so small that you don’t even notice it on your camera! It’s only 85g and 3,3cm long. That’s just amazingly tiny! And the best thing: It’s under $300 while bringing you a really sharp image! For the corners to be perfect you’ll have to stop down to around F5.6 and there is some noticable vignetting, but you get a combination of camera and lens that should be the most portable fullframe setup there is!

We recommend this lens as your “always-on” because a good 35mm lens is just amazing for pretty much everything in a day-to-day context (We like it more that a “normal” 50mm).

The Wideangle Lens: Sigma 17mm F4.0 DG DN

Need a small wideangle? Look no further than the Sigma 17mm F4.0 DG DN! This lens is not only super-sharp, it’s tiny, extremely well built and has amazing close-focus abilities. It’s not cheap, coming in at around $500 or a little above, but you get a lot of lens: It comes with an aperture ring, weather sealing, and unlike similar lenses (we are looking at you, Voigtländer 15mm F4.5) it has autofocus and a filter thread for screw in filters that can take step-up-rings. The lens weighs in at 220g and is 5cm long, so a tad bigger that your everyday lens Samyang 35mm F2.8.

The Long Lens: Samyang 75mm F1.8

Our small and portable setup is completed with the Samyang 75mm F1.8! It’s really small for it’s specs (We can also recommend the Sony 85mm F1.8, but thats significantly larger) and doesn’t break the bank at around $400.

This tiny portrait-beast is only 6,9cm long and weighs a measly 230g! All of htis while being super sharp and bright in a small package!

Conclusion

Want a small fullframe package? Your pick can fit in most jacket pockets and can be carried around everywhere while giving you great versatility and image quality!

The lenses combined weigh only 535g and should be able fit in every bag there is.

With this setup of Sony A7C II, Samyang 35mm F2.8, Sigma 17mm F4.0 DG DN and the Samyang 75mm F1.8 you can conquer the world - in a small and stylish package!
